Xmas concert, St. Winifride's, 2009Our Christmas concerts took place in December at St. Winefride’s Catholic Church and Parkgate URC.

The concerts raised over £300 for charity shared between Neston High School music development fund and Claire House Hospice.

Part of the programme featured the UK premieré of Suffolk-based composer, Graeme Hopson‘s carol, Snowflakes. Read more about the carol on our conductor’s blog.

Neston Ecumenical Singers with the CMS Youth Choir

Saturday, 25th April saw the first Neston performance of John Rutter’s enchanting ‘Mass for the Children’ at Neston Parish Church.

The performance featured the Chester Music Society Youth Choir as the children’s choir as well as local soprano, Becky Hay and baritone, James Goddard. Following the mass was Vivaldi’s famous ‘Gloria’, with solos from soprano, Becky Hay and contralto, Helena Thomas who also conducts the children’s choir participating in the event.

Accompaniment was provided on the organ by International Concert Organist, Graham Eccles. This concert was part of a local patriotic event in Neston remembering St. George which included a concert at Neston High School earlier on in the day and another concert the previous evening at the Parish Church.
